Sublime batting and fantastic comeback from bowlers helped Denmark to pass Bermuda by 8 wickets.
Denmark won the toss and decided to field first. Bermuda’s openers gave them flying start with 81 runs stand for the first wicket. Bascome batted significantly and scored 63 runs off 41 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes. While their skipper hold on one end with 81 ball-32 runs. Incoming batsman, Manders smashed 40 runs off 56 balls with 3 boundaries. Bermuda’s top order set a solid foundation as they took their total to 132 runs for the lost of 1 wicket in 27 overs. After then, poor batting from Bermuda’s middle order let them down as they only managed to score 75 runs for rest 9 wickets. Denmark’s bowler pulled it back to restrict Bermuda on decent total of 209 runs.
Bashir Shah picked up maximum 3 wickets, expensing 17 runs in his 10 overs with 3 maiden. Ahmad provided him perfect company with 2 wickets. Javed, Bulow and Thanikaithasan also managed to get a wicket each.
Till the half-way, match was on balance condition as 210 wasn’t the easy target to chase on. But Denmark’s top order made it very easy with top class batting performance. Denmark’s opener, Freddie Klokker took out gem out to granite to register first century of the tournament. He played unbeaten 108 runs inning. His 130 balls inning was filled with 8 fours and a six. He was well supported by his opening fellow Zameer Khan (38) as they shared 89 runs for the first wicket. In the end, unbeaten 115 runs stand between Klokker and skipper Shah helped Denmark to chase it down comfortably with 49 balls to spare. Skipper Shah smashed 48 runs off 59 balls with 2 fours and six. Bermuda’s bowler, Robinson picked up 2 wickets but couldn’t stop his opposition to register 8 wickets victory. Klokker was named as man of the match for his match-winning knock.
Denmark will face Jersey tomorrow whereas, Bermuda will lock horn against Uganda.
