Tanzania shocked Uganda with 6 wickets win

Zamoyoni Jaboneke all-round display helped Tanzania to shock Uganda with 6 wickets victory. Losing the toss, Tanzania was asked to field first. They restricted Uganda on the modest total of 155 runs, sending back their 8 batsmen. Jaboneke and Mussa picked up equal 3 wickets each. Jaboneke sent back Patel (33), Nakrini (32) and Masaba (15). Where, his partner in crime sent back Irfan (00), Waiswa (00) and Ali Shah (13) in his very productive bowling spell of 2 overs. Uganda, who chosed to bat fiest, lost their opening batsman, Kayondo (00) in very first over when Rehmtullah (9-1) uprooted Kayondo’s stump. Then, Mukasa and Patel took the responsibility and brought back Uganda on track with 68 runs stand. Mukasa scored 38 runs off 39 balls with 4 fours and a six. Incoming batter, Nakrani shared 40 runs stand with Patel. Patel contributed 33 runs off 41 balls with 4 fours. Nakrani also added worthy 32 runs off just 11 deliveries with 3 fours and sixes respectively. Uganda were at 3-108 during 16th over before suffering a unwanted batting collapsed. They lost last 5 wickets for 47 runs.

Chasing the target, Tanzania were reduced to 2-39 inside 7 overs but 64 runs stand between Patwa and Zafar Khan created a pathway to win for Tanzania. Patwa added 47 runs off 36 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes whereas Zafar Khan scored unbeaten 40 runs from 36 balls with a four and 3 sixes. Then came the man of the match, Jaboneke with match-winning knock. When he entered the crease, Tanzania was in need of 41 runs from 26 balls. He slammed unbeaten 32 runs off 12 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes. Hence, Tanzania crossed the the target with 5 balls to spare to produce a 6 wickets victory over Uganda. Ali Shah picked up maximum 2 wickets for Uganda along with a wicket each for Muhunuza and Irfan.

With completion of 4 matches, unbeaten Kenya is on the top with 8 points. Uganda and Tanzania are situated on 2nd and 3rd position respectively with equal 4 points whereas Rwanda is yet to open their account in points table. Four participating teams are scheduled to play 2 more matches and top 2 sides will find themselves on the next level of World T20 qualifier.
