Excellent bowling performance helped Classical Eagles to commence Under-16 Jhapa Champions League on winning note, beating Mechi Boys by 26-run on Sunday at Turkeni Khel Maidan.
Winning the toss, Eagles skipper Bhupal Dangal decided to bat first and posted 81-5 in 15 overs. Later, Eagles kept it tight and defend the target quite comfortably as Mechi Boys ended on 55-10 in13 overs.
Eagles were two down for 18 in four over before Suraj Pokhrel slammed two sixes and as many fours for his 33-ball 28. None of the other batters could score in double digit for Eagles with Divyam Adhikari 5-ball 9 was second on run scoring card. Young leg-spinner Sandesh Prasai was exceptional on the day with the figures of 1-1 in his three overs that included two maidan overs.
Souraj Ghimire was adjudged as player of the match for his 3-7 in two overs. Similarly, Divyam also returned the figures of 2-6 in three overs for the winning side. Sangam Budhatoki also had two wickets in his tally, giving away 13 runs in three overs. Rahul Khatiwada scored maximum 21-ball 17 for the losing side with three shots to the fence.
