South Africa escaped from Glenn Maxwell’s cameo in rain-affected match to win one-off T20I against Australia.
Africa were asked to bat first and they replied with 108 runs in shortening 10 overs innings. Proteas openers, Quinton De Kock (22) and Reeza Hendricks (19) gave them a flying start with 42 runs from first 17 balls before Hendricks departed off Maxwell’s delivery. He faced 8 balls to add 19 runs with 3 fours and a six. His deputy, De Kock took 16 balls to score 22 runs with 2 sixes in his name. Skipper, Faf Du Plessis (27) and Heinrich Klaasen (12) played their vital part to propel the score to 108 runs. Du Plessis slammed 4 fours in his 15 balls- 27 runs innings whereas Klaasen scored 12 off 6 with 2 fours. Billy Stanlake stood out for Aussies with 3 wickets in his full bowling quota of 2 overs. Chasing the target, Australia kept on losing wickets on crucial phase and handed 21 runs win to South Africa. Australia were 5 down for 43 runs through half-way before Glenn Maxwell smashed some biggie to make it bit interesting. He scored 38 runs from 23 balls with 2 fours and sixes each to take Australia’s destroyed innings to 87 runs. Lungi Ngidi, Chris Morris, and Andile Phehlukwayo picked up 2 wickets each for South Africa whereas man of the match, Tabraiz Shamsi bagged a wicket in his tally.
