Butwal Blasters announced Anil Kharel and Rabindra Jung Shahi as their local iconic players for first edition of Pokhara Premier League (PPL).
Pokhara Premier League is just 12 days away and every franchises are preparing their best to be the first ever champion. Butwal Blasters added a young bowler and batsman in their tank as a local iconic players. Both of the announced players are part of Nepal U16 side of ACC U16 Premier Tournament 2014.
Anil Kharel impressed everyone with his exceptional spin bowling in ACC U16 Premier Tournament 2014. He bagged the award of most promising player of the tournament with 13 wickets in his tally. He was placed in second position of top wicket-takers, just below his own countryman, Jitendra Singh (15). He had already shown his potential and talent is there without a doubt, which is all set to get exposure in nearly coming PPL. He will train and play along with top class players like of Sompal Kami, Sagar Pun with good facilities. Young and energetic, Kharel, will be part of highly anticipated 12-days long Pokhara Premier League, representing Butwal Blasters. “After ACC U16 Premier League, I haven’t participated in any highly recognized or popular tournament so I’m taking this as an opportunity to show my potential and to uplift my playing standard”, Anil Kharel reacted after electing as a local iconic player of Butwal Blasters.
Along with Kharel, Rabindra Jung Shahi will also represent Butwal Blasters in coming PPL. He is a very busy batsman with both strike rotating and boundary hitting skill. He was also part of Nepal U16 team in 2014’s ACC Premier League, where he scored 87 runs in 5 matches. He was the leading run scorer of Khukuri Challengers Cup 2018 with 258 runs in 4 innings. He was part of Dhangadhi Premier League 2 (DPL2), representing Team Chauraha Dhangadhi and part of Prime Minister Cup, leading province no.6. Shahi has already represented Nepal U19 in two Asia Cups (2016&2018). He was with Nepal U19 cricket team in recently concluded Asia Cup as well. He was in Nepal’s starting XI against India where he scored 16 runs.
“Winning the tournament is surely our first priority, but more than that uplifting Nepali cricket is our main vision, so we had already discussed that we will provide match exposure to the maximum players of our squad and will be unpredictable with our team formation and batting strategy.”, Mahesh Dhimal, Team Manager of Butwal Blasters. “We are very happy to include Kharel and Shahi in our squad and we will try to give them maximum opportunities and I’m sure, we are very likely to get back something from them as well”, he added.
