Nepal continued their unbeaten streak in ICC World Twenty20 Asia Region Qualifier ‘B’. They hunted China easily as their fifth victim. Nepal thrashed China by 10 wickets with 109 balls remaining.
Nepal’s in-stand captain, Gyanendra Malla, won the toss and invited China to bat first. China managed to handle Nepal’s bowling attack for 13 overs, adding 26 runs in their tally (out of which 9 runs were from extras). China’s opener, Yan, was lone batsman to touch the double digit score as he added 11 runa facing 27 balls with the help of a boundary. China were clueless against Nepal’s sharp spin attack. Sandeep Lamichhane, Basant Regmi, and Lalit Rajbanshi picked up 3 wickets each. Nepal’s leggie, Lamichhane, expensed 4 runs in his bowling spell of 4 overs with a maiden over. Veteran spinner, Regmi, cost 5 runs in his bowling spell of 4 overs with a maiden over in his tally.
Chasing 27 runs were never a big task, but Binod Bhandari made it more easier with his blistering cameo. He was pushed in opening slot in this tournament for this purpose and he did it against China in Nepal’s 5th match of the tourney. He smashed 24 runs from 8 balls with 3 fours and a six. Pradeep Airee only get to face 3 balls where he scored 4 runs. Nepal found China’s tiny target in 1.5 overs, without losing any wicket.
