Nepal Cricket Team had travelled to Sri Lanka two days back on 20th August for 7 days long preparatory camp.
They are going to participate in Asia Cup Qualifier 2018 from 29th August, which is scheduled to be held in Malaysia. Nepal will play 3 matches as a part of their preparatory camp. Nepal will face Sri Lanka Army Cricket Club today. 14 players out of 15 selected players are in this preparatory camp, barring Sandeep Lamichhane, who is currently playing for SKN Patriots in Caribbean Premier League. He will directly travel to Malaysia on 28th August. Sri Lanka Army Cricket Club is very strong first class side of Sri Lanka domestic circuit. According to wikipedia, as of late January 2016, Sri Lanka Army Sports Club had played 93 first-class matches, for 38 wins, 21 losses and 34 draws, and 68 List A matches, for 35 wins, 28 losses and 5 unfinished.
Nepal cricket team will surely try to find right combination before very important tournament, Asia Cup Qualifier. Sharad Vesawkar was left out with finger injury so big question is who will replace him in the starting eleven. Sagar Pun, who smashed maximum run in recently concluded Malaysian Premier League is chipped in into the side. Nepal need to find a answer, whether to place him in the starting eleven or not. If yes, then in which batting position? Another big question is who will keep the wicket? It will be Subash Khakurel or hard hitter Binod Bhandari? or they will invest on young Anil Sah. Who will suit the most in opening slot? Nepal can’t travel to Malaysia with all these confusion. So this 3 practice matches with 3 quality first class team will assist them to solve all these questions.
