Nepal Cricket Team 15-men squad has been announced for Asia Cup Qualifier 2018.

Asia Cup Qualifier 2018 is scheduled to be held on Malaysia from 29th August. Top five associate nations of Asia will battle it out with each other for a common goal of representing themselves in Asia Cup 2018. Five Asian cricketing giants having test status already confirmed their spot in Asia Cup. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan qualified automatically. UAE, Nepal, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Oman will have tough fight with each other to fulfill a remaining quota of Asia Cup 2018. Asia Cup Qualifier will be on 50 over format followed by Asia Cup. Asia Cup 2018 consist of two groups. Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh is placed in single group where arch-rivals India, Pakistan are waiting a qualifying side to fulfil their group’s quota.

Asia Cup Qualifier will be based on round-robin method. They will face each other once and at the end top two sides will see themselves in final encounter. Champion team will get a chance to compete in Asia Cup. Asia Cup will start from 15 September and will run for 13 days.

Two changes in Nepal’s squad from their last tour of Netherlands. Consistent middle order batsman, Sharad Vesawkar, left out with finger injury. He injured his finger during their first ever ODI against Netherlands. He was asked to have four weeks rest by doctor. Sagar Pun replaced retired Shakti Gauchan. Pun is having fabulous time in domestic tournaments which helped him to retain his spot back in national squad. He slammed two centuries in recently concluded Malaysia Premier League and honoured with batsman of the tournament. He also have splendid Prime Minister Cup and performed consistently in local leagues after being left out of Nepal Cricket Team squad with poor show in international matches during his marathon bad patches. Nepal will travel to Sri Lanka on 20th August for some practice matches before heading to Malaysia for much awaited tournament, Asia Cup Qualifier 2018.
