Chirag Suri’s brilliant batting and Rohan Mustafa’s all round show helped UAE to remain unbeaten through-out the league phase of ICC WT20 Asia QLF-A, beating Kuwait by 86 runs. On other hand, Qatar chased down Bahrain’s target with ease to confirmed their qualification.
Batting first UAE took over Kuwait’s bowling attack and posted the mammoth total of 201 runs on board, losing 4 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Chirag Suri, who were part of last edition of IPL, batted exceptionally well and managed to score 86 runs before being out off Sajid Manzil’s delivery. His 56 ball’s inning consist of 6 fours and 5 sixes. Suri’s opening pair, Ashfaq Ahmed scored 36 runs off 20 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes. Skipper Mustafa also managed to add 31 runs. Sajid Manzil took 2 wickets for Kuwait followed by a wicket for Muhammad Kashif.
Chasing the target, Kuwait just managed to score 115 runs, losing 8 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Skipper Kashif (33) and Mohammad Asghar (31) were notable contributor for Kuwait with a bat in hand. Mohammad Naveed and Rohan Mustafa picked up maximum 3-3 wickets each for Emirates. UAE confirmed their qualification to next round with sealing victories in all 5 matches. Kuwait should win 3rd place play-off to proceed to next round.
On another encounter, Qatar chased down 113’s runs target set by Bahrain to seal 4 wickets victory. With this victory, Qatar confirmed their qualification and will face neighbouring nation, UAE in final clash tomorrow. Following this defeat Bahrain got knocked-out of qualification’s race.
