Nepal confirmed their ODI status after sealing a famous victory against PNG.
The Himalayan nation became the 9th team of Asia in the history to achieve this glorious status. Five test playing nations followed by UAE, Hong Kong, Asian XI had ODI status before.
After such prestigious feet, Nepal got congratulation wishes from across the world. Paras Khadka is leading his army on a path to greatness despite poor function of administration.
Recently a hard working bunch of lads received congratulations from one of the best captains in the history of cricket, MS Dhoni. A man with all ICC’s trophy showed his happiness towards team Nepal. One of the best finishers in this game once visited Nepal and spent time with Nepal’s cricket team a few years ago.
Talking with Hindustantimes, first and foremost he congratulated inspirational leader of the inspiring team, Paras Khadka. Admitted it as a big achievement he thinks that this status will change local people’s mentality towards this game and administration function will improve. “It’s (ODI status) a result of their hard-work and sincere effort. I don’t think that participation of small teams will dilute the standard of cricket the world over,” MS said. “To make cricket a global sport, I believe more and more such teams must come into the fray, and it is good that Associate nations are trying to gain ICC’s ODI status,” Dhoni added to Hindustantimes.
Dhoni is quite concerned with Nepal’s bench strength but he thinks that it will improve on by the time. Dhoni memorized the Afghanistan progress after competing with big teams so he admitted that associate will progress if they get exposure. “Consistency is important and that’s why teams like UAE after playing some good cricket for a good time period, lost their way,” Dhoni added.
So according to Dhoni, Rise of Nepal is very positive sign for cricket and they can really be a tough task for the world if they work hard consistently.
