HongKong Outplayed Nepal on their own backyards. HongKong registered famous 83 runs win over Nepal today at Mong Kok, HongKong. The surface in Mong Kok had a deep-brown look that suggested a lot of moisture. There was also an even covering of grass which allowed the ball to grip the pitch and move laterally. The toss was critical and Nepal did the right thing by choosing to field, after which Karan KC and Sompal Kami proved the value of a Right-arm seamer. Karan natural angle – moving towards the right-hand batsman – accounted for Anshuman Rath. Basant Regmi middle and off stump line proved to be handy for Nepal. His delivery to Ehsan Khan which found the batsman exactly in front of a wicket for LBW was ideal delivery to bowl in this particular surface.
Lamichhane’s line of outside off-stump line which was shaping in also accounted three vital wickets for Nepal. Unfortunate Babar Hayat Babar Hayat, HK captain was very unlucky to get a runout. He was playing exceptionally well. Karan and Sompal were on their best with a great display of pace bowling line and length than he joins the crease on 3.4 over after losing Anshuman for a duck. He then disturbed the Nepal’s opening bowling duo’s line and length with his sound batting technique and a strong determination. He really impresses many crickets expect with his technique on a slow pitch. As he was standing up awaiting the bowler’s delivery, the balls in the feet were of his priority, poised, ready to move quickly and efficiently. We must say Nepal’s batsmen need to learn much more of him to bat effectively on a slow track like Mission Road Ground.
HK opener JJ Atkinson anchoring the HK’s 1st Innings. Really pleased to watch such a vital innings at this level. He not just scored 76 runs, He held one end and other batsman scored around him. He scored 76 runs off 117 balls before getting trapped in front of middle-stump off Sushan Bhari. Out of 76 runs, he scored today 34 runs were through singles and doubles. On the way, he managed to get 9 fours and a six. Improvement of Associate nation fielding standard This match is perfect if you are analyzing it in terms of fielding. Besides HK fielding threw two catching opportunities of Dipendra Airee and Aarif Sheikh everything was up to mark. Aizaz Khan catch in short mid-wicket which dismissed Sompal kami was exceptional. We can’t forget Waqas Khan well judged catch in deep midwicket. Ground fielding of both teams was brilliant. They were energetic and well determined in the field. Nepal’s vice-captain Gyanendra Malla saved at least half dozen of runs through his brilliant fielding display inside the circle. the young prince of Nepal’s cricket might have failed with the bat today but he was absolutely fine today in the fielding department.
Nepali batsmen’s poor shot selection Nepalese batsmen were very poor in selecting shot today. Nepal’s batsmen were implementing their shot very early today which was not the way to play in slow track. The delivery used to arrive quite late in bat on a slow track so playing shot early allowed balls to remain maximum time in the air which resulted in six Nepalese wickets in the form of catch out.
