Namibia who is visiting Nepal to play its World Cricket League match on the 16th and 18th of April suffered a humiliating defeat against Afghanistan in ICC Intercontinental Cup by an Inning and 36 runs.
Winning the toss, Namibia chooses to bat first. Opener SJ Baard and HN Ya France gave decent start scoring their personal 25(39) and 46(123) runs respectively, but none of other player managed to get a big score, as a result they get restricted for 172 runs playing 62.1 overs in their first inning. Only 5 players manage to get the double figure.
Afghani bowlers remain completely dominant in the first inning. Mohamad Nabi took 5 wickets with an outstanding average economy of 1.23, Zahir Khan manages to get 3 while Dawlat Zadran and Rahmat Shah get a 1-1 wicket.
Mohammad Shahzad who recently had a great performance in ICC T20 world cup maintain his consistency to get his fourth first-class century. His 139 runs of 245 balls strengthened Afghanistan inning 334/118.5 on the second day leading Namibia by 143 runs. Afsar Zazai scores 49 of 93 balls to be Second highest scorer from Afghanistan.
Namibia bowling unit controlled by right arm pace bowler Gerrie Snyman and Zhivago Groenewald. Each of this bowler took 4 and 3 wickets respectively.
Namibia couldn’t retain the batting track in the second inning as well. The just manage to score 126 runs losing all of their wickets in 35.3 overs on the third day. They lost their last 4 wickets for just 3 runs.HN Ya France who scored 46 in the first innings again manage to get highest of 40 runs for Namibia, JP Kotze scored 35 while others could not produce good runs as a result Namibia suffered big defeat by an Inning and 36 runs.
Zahir Khan destroyed Namibian second innings by taking 5 wickets in just 8 overs. He was followed by Dawlat Zadran, Mohammad Nabi who took 3 and 2 wickets respectively
