Mujeeb shines in Afghanistan’s massive win over Scotland

Mujeeb Ur Rahman destroyed Scotland batting lineup as Afghanistan won their first game in the Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 by 130 runs on Monday in Dubai.

After deciding to bat first, Afghanistan posted 190 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs before outplaying Scotland on just 60 runs in 10.2 overs, courtesy, five-wicket haul from player of the match Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Afghans openers provided a decent start, adding 54 runs in 5.5 overs. Opener Hazratullah Zazai scored 44 off 30 deliveries with three sixes and the same number of fours.

Mohammad Shahzad added 22 runs off 15 balls with two fours and a six. Rahmanullah Gurbaz added 46 runs in 37 balls in which he hit four sixes and a four.

Najibullah Zadran scored only a half-century in the game with 59 runs off 34 deliveries in a good strike rate of 173.53 where he smashed 5 fours and 3 maximum before getting out on the last ball of the inning.

Safyaan Sharif took the maximum of 2 wickets for the losing side, giving away 33 runs in his 4 overs.

Chasing the mammoth total, Scotland’s opener George Munsey top-scored which read as 25 runs with 2 sixes and 2 fours respectively.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman dismantled Scotland’s too order with wickets, expensing just 20 runs in 4 overs. Rashid khan removed 4 batters in 2.2 overs at the expense of 9 runs while Naveen-ul-Haq took a wicket of Matthew Cross.
