Shubman Gill scripted first win for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 as they surpassed Sunrisers Hyberabad (SRH) by seven-wicket on Saturday.
KKR faced 49-run defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI) on their first match while SRH are still searching for their first win. Gill anchored the innings with unbeaten 62-ball 70 while chasing modest total (143).
After electing to bat first, Sunrisers laid solid foundation with 59 runs losing only one wicket till 9 overs before David Warners departed for his 36 runs. Manish Pandey (51 off 38) and Wriddhiman Saha (30 off 31) took their time in the crease but failed to accelerate the innings in the end.
Andre Russell caught and bowled well-set Manish Pandey with low full toss in the 18th over and Saha failed to hit big shots in the end. This resulted Hyderabad 20-25 runs short and presented only 142 runs in front of Knight Riders’ power-packed batting line-up. We decided to feature this equation in our turning point of the match.
Knight Riders will face Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday whereas Sunrisers will lock-horn against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday.
