  • England facing Australia for the first One Day International (ODI) of three-match ODI series currently. England won the toss and elected to field first, Australia’s Steve Smith missed out first ODI after a knock to head during training session.
  • Trinbago Knight Riders claimed their fourth title of Caribbean Premier League, beating St Lucia Zouks by eight-wicket in the final on September 10. Team captain Kieron Pollard was adjuged as man of the series while star performer Lendl Simmons was chosed as man of the match in the night of the final.
  • South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) asked Cricket South Africa’s board to step aside as they are forming committe to investigate maladministration and malpractice in the board. SASCOC is the controlling body for all high-performance sport in South Africa.
  • Swedan Cricket appointed former star South African player, Jonty Rhodes, as their head coach.
  • On This Day, iconic player and first international centurion from India, Lala Amarnath was born. He was first captain to win test series for India against Pakistan in 1952. He was died in 2000, at the age of 89.
