USA climbed to pinnacle of points table with huge win against Kenya. Similarly, Singapore registered first win of the tourney against Denmark.
Netravalkar’s USA were asked to bat first and they replied with 254 runs in stipulated 50 overs, losing all 10 wickets. Collective batting effort led by Aaron Jones took America to defendable total of 254 runs. Jones himself scored 69 runs from 118 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes. He shared 49 runs partnership with Taylor (41) and 83 runs with Walsh (48). Nelson Odhiambo and Nehemiah Odhiambo were pick of the bowlers for Kenya with 4 and 3 wickets respectively. Chasing it, Kenyan were speechless against USA’s tight bowling attack led by pace bowling sensational Ali Khan. Khan picked up 3 wickets including both openers, Patel (03) and Obanda (11). He even accounted Karim’s (00) wicket in his very fruitful spell of 8 overs, expensing 36 runs of it. Hutchinson also took 3 vital wickets, expensing just 17 runs in his 6 overs’ spell. Patel contributed maximum 19 runs out of Kenya’s 96. In the end, Kenya fell 158 runs away from the task to concede huge defeat.
Coincidentally Singapore also scored similar 254 runs against Denmark on another match of the day. Singapore’s openers, Dutta and Mutreja, shared 140 runs opening stand. Dutta topped Singapore’s batting chart with 80 balls- 87 runs with the help of 9 fours and 3 sixes. Mutreja also smashed 57 runs with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Ahmad grabbed maximum 3 wickets for Denmark. Chasing the target, Denmark’s skipper Shah ran out of partner as his beautiful innings went in vain. He added more than 50% of his team’s score, adding 85 runs out of Denmark’s 160. Krishna and Mahboob bagged maximum 4 and 3 wickets respectively in Singapore’s 94 runs win.
Denmark will lock horn against Oman tomorrow whereas Kenya is scheduled to face Uganda on same fixture.
