This is a national level tournament based on eastern development region. So, it is very common that its first and foremost priority is to encourage and create the cricketing environment in eastern development region. So, giving more favor to the eastern part, only players from province one can be selected through a talent hunt. Total of 16 players will be enlisted in an auction through talent hunt.
Talent hunt will start from coming Saturday (April 07) where it will last for further two weeks.
With an ambition to get you more closer to the tournament, we threw some questions to the secretary of Purwanchal Cricket Academy, Subrath Paudel.
What is the main theme of this tournament?
– Nepal is a fast-improve cricketing nation in the world. But there’s no any 50-over format league in the country. So, obviously first theme is to convey the message about the possibility of 50-over format league in Nepal. Beside this, there is a legacy of good batsmen from the eastern region, particularly from Biratnagar. So with no any noticeable proper tournament in last 10 years from this part of the nation, the legacy is vanishing and talking about current Nepal’s squad, there is no any batsman from the eastern region. So, we are organizing this tournament with a strong vision of introducing a good batsman who can play 50 over matches.
What message would you like to convey to our fans?
– We are working hard on the preparation of this tournament as still there are lot more things to work on. We are organizing it on short notice so with your love and support, we can extend it in coming days. People are finding difficult to commercialized the longer format tournament, so if we successfully organize this tournament then, we can see many more longer-format tournament in Nepal on coming days.
